  1. USB Weather Board

    USB Weather Board

    $129.61

We take the sensitive SCP1000 barometric pressure sensor, match it with a sensitive SHT15 humidity sensor, and we give you weather over USB! Ok, so it doesn't really predict the weather, but you can immediately tell what the current pressure, humidity, and temperature is. Graphed over time you can watch weather fronts move in and the rain come down.

Serial output is a single visible ASCII string at 9600bps.

There is a footprint and switch for 'RF'. This unit can be powered from our large solar cell and data can be transmitted via our BlueSMiRF wireless modem! All you need now is a greenhouse to monitor.

    Features:
    • Powered over USB or externally
    • Absolute barometric pressure accurate within +/-150 Pascal
    • Relative humidity accurate within +/-2%
    • Temperature accurate within +/-0.3 degrees C
    • Serial output 9600bps 8-N-1
    • Measurement rate of 1Hz

  2. ePIR Motion Detector

    ePIR Motion Detector

    $13.45

Zilog's ePIR is a fully functional motion-detecting single-board computer (SBC). Combined on this board are a Z8 Encore! XP MCU, and a Murata passive infrared (PIR) sensor, which is shielded by a Fresnel lens. Taking advantage of the processing capabilities of the Z8 MCU, the ePIR uses a powerful new statistical processing method to provide exceptional motion detection performance.

The ePIR provides two interface modes: a simple hardware interface and more advanced serial method. If you're using the hardware interface, the motion detect (MD) pin will go low when motion is detected. In serial mode, the ePIR is read and configured using the defined set of commands - all sent asynchronously at 9600 baud (8-N-1).

The physcial interface of the ePIR is an 8-pin, 0.1" pitch male header.

    Features:
    • Complete, fully functional motion detection SBC including low profile Fresnel lens
    • Advanced software based motion detection algorithms provide superior sensitivity and stability
    • 2.7-3.6VDC operating voltage
    • Typical current draw: 8.9mA
    • Wide 5 x 5m, 60 degree detection pattern
    • Simple hardware or advanced serial (UART) based configuration and interface
    • Adjustable sensitivity, delay and ambient light threshold
    • SLEEP mode for low power applications
    • No temperature compensation required
    • Dynamic PIR sensor stabilization minimizes power-on time
    • Photocell input for ambient light detection in lighting applications
    • Minimal components ensure highest possible Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF)
    • Production ready solution or develop your own custom software application
    • Complete development system available (ZEPIR000101ZCOG)

  3. ACS712 Low Current Sensor Breakout

    ACS712 Low Current Sensor Breakout

    $16.65

This current sensor gives precise current measurement for both AC and DC signals. These are good sensors for metering and measuring overall power consumption of systems. The ACS712 current sensor measures up to 5A of DC or AC current. We added an opamp gain stage for more sensitive current measurements. By adjusting the gain (from 4.27 to 47) you can measure very small currents.

The ACS712 Low Current Sensor Breakout outputs an analog voltage that varies linearly with sensed current. To calibrate, first set the output offset to the desired level (with zero current on the sense lines, read output with a DVM). Then with a known current input (a 100mA limited supply works well for this), set the output deflection with the gain pot. Sensitivity is then calculated as (Vref - Vdeflect)/(current input).

The bandwidth on the ASC712 Low Current Sensor Breakout has been set to 34Hz to reduce noise when using at high gains. The full 80KHz bandwidth that the sensor is capable of can be recovered by removing C1. See schematic for more details.

    • 5.0 VDC, single supply operation
    • 66 to 185 mV/A output sensitivity
    • Output voltage proportional to AC or DC currents
    • Factory-trimmed for accuracy
    • Extremely stable output offset voltage
    • Nearly zero magnetic hysteresis
    • Ratiometric output from supply voltage

  8. PIR Motion Sensor

    PIR Motion Sensor

    $10.79

This is a simple to use motion sensor. Power it up and wait 1-2 seconds for the sensor to get a snapshot of the still room. If anything moves after that period, the 'alarm' pin will go low.

Red wire is power (5 to 12V). Brown wire is GND. Black wire is open collector Alarm.

This unit works great from 5 to 12V (datasheet shows 12V). You can also install a jumper wire past the 5V regulator on board to make this unit work at 3.3V. Sensor uses 1.6mA@3.3V.

The alarm pin is an open collector meaning you will need a pull up resistor on the alarm pin. The open drain setup allows multiple motion sensors to be connected on a single input pin. If any of the motion sensors go off, the input pin will be pulled low.

The connector is slightly odd but has a 0.1" pitch female connector making it compatible with jumper wires and 0.1" male headers.

  9. Potentiometer Sensor Board

    Potentiometer Sensor Board

    $10.45

This handy little board is an easy way to provide an adjustable input voltage to your robot controller. Typical uses include LCD brightness adjustment, or timing adjustment of peripheral devices (such as spark advance).

A small Phillips head screw driver can be used to adjust the on-board potentiometer.

The sensor board has three inputs: Vin, Vout, and Gnd, and requires a Vin of +5V. Vout represents the reading of the potentiometer, which has a range of 0-5V DC.

There are two holes along the periphery of the board to allow for rigid mounting to your robot or experiment.

The kit includes stainless steel screws & aluminum standoffs to easily bolt the potentiometer board to your robot base or experiment.
